Caregivers Leucadia Senior Weddings

Caregivers near Leucadia Look at Senior Marriage Trends

Caregivers near Leucadia Notice More Senior Weddings

Most weddings involve two young people, perhaps in their 20s, knowing relatively little about life but excited about starting their adult journey together. Grandparents and other elderly guests smile, remembering their own youth and wedding days. But caregivers near Leucadia have noticed an interesting set of statistics related to weddings, which indicate that some of those seniors’ wedding days may not be that far in the past.

Marrying With Style

Last year, 8 percent of all weddings in the U.S. were between seniors over age 55. If that number surprises you, it should—ten years ago, it was only 4 percent. Not only are more senior citizens getting married today, but they are also generally having larger, more elaborate weddings than seniors in past generations. When seniors did marry in the past, it was usually in a small, private ceremony. Today, however, a 55-and-over wedding is likely to be just as exciting as that of the bride and groom’s younger relatives.

Why the Trend?

The way America thinks about marriage is changing in many ways. Public weddings between seniors are just one of the changes that caregivers in San Diego County have noticed. The trend is part of a larger movement away from traditionalism in wedding ceremonies and toward individual expression. Why shouldn’t the elderly get in on the act too, proclaiming their love in a way that uniquely reflects their personalities?

Caregivers in San Diego County Care for Married Seniors

Often, professional caregivers are called upon to provide care for elderly people who are widowed or divorced. In many marriages, one spouse is able to care for the other into their senior years. But even a husband and wife who are both handicapped, or are simply unable to keep up with the house’s demands, may not need to move. A capable caregiver may be the answer to extending the happy couple’s life in their family home.
