Caregivers Poway Abuse Camera

Watching Caregivers near Poway From a Distance

Nursing Homes and Caregivers near Poway May Be Recorded

Leaving your elderly loved ones in the hands of nursing home staff or caregivers near Poway is a stressful decision. You do all you can to verify the trustworthiness of the professionals that you choose, but you may still wonder exactly what goes on while you are away. Some family members of nursing home residents, suspecting that staff was not treating their loved ones well, have secretly installed cameras to get the whole story. For some of these families, the results were less than encouraging.

Exposing Abuse

Tragically, it is relatively easy for nursing home employees to treat residents carelessly or even cruelly, but behave differently during visits by family. Cameras hidden in a resident’s room show families what really goes on while they are not there, and at least one family learned that their loved one was suffering criminal abuse by those that were responsible for caring for her. Secret cameras are gaining popularity in nursing homes across the country, encouraged by senior advocates and lawyers.

Legal Concerns

When video evidence leads to accusations of abuse, nursing home owners and their lawyers often object based on privacy claims. But lawmakers and courts appear to be coming down heavily on the side of seniors and their families, understanding that family members have the right to know exactly how staff members are treating their loved ones—even if that means videotaping them at work without their knowledge.
